It’s well recognized that your skin care routine should change with the seasons. Spring is almost here and your skin care routine should change accordingly. Winter is an easy enough season to decipher as far as skin care needs are concerned, but the other seasons may be a little less clear. Spring skin care can be divided into two parts. First, your skin needs some extra attention to undo the damage of winter exposure. Second, prepare it to be glowing and beautiful for the summer months.
We’ve aggregated a list of 5 highly rated beauty products that are ideal for sloughing off the damage of winter and jump-starting your spring skin care routine. In compiling this list we’ve included at least 2 different review sites for each product recommendation in order to provide a well-rounded and balanced review.
1. Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream for Dry Skin
Yu-Be skin care is one of the best-selling skin care products in Japan. The company has been around for 57 years and their products are only now beginning to enter other markets. The company was founded in response to a demand for non-petroleum based skin creams. According to the Environmental Working Group (EGW) petrolatum can be found in 1 out of every 14 skin care products on the market. Although it’s generally recognized as non-toxic, it may not be the best ingredient on it’s own. Petrolatum is an emollient that creates a moisture barrier, keeping existing moisture in the skin. Glycerin, on the other hand, is a humectant which draws moisture from the air into the skin while also creating a moisture barrier.
Yu-Be moisturizing cream is formulated with glycerin as one of the primary ingredients so it is highly effective at drawing moisture to the skin while creating a moisture barrier. It accomplishes this without being greasy or heavy. Although the weather is warming up in the spring, the air is still quite dry so you should continue to keep your skin adequately moisturized with a moisturizer that strikes a balance between heavy winter cream and light summer cream. Yu-Be cream does just that. It absorbs into the skin quickly and although some reviewers noted an unpleasant scent (from the addition of camphor, which is very good for skin) the scent dissipates within a few minutes. The MakeupAlley review is on the lower end because a number of reviewers gave it 1/5 because of the scent and cost. As has been noted, the scent dissipates quickly. The cost may seem high at first at $25.00USD for 2.2oz, but you only use a small amount which lowers the overall cost-per-use.
